What we do

NewsBreakNigeria is a news aggregator based in Lagos. We track sixteen Nigerian newsrooms — Punch, Vanguard, ThisDay, Premium Times, Channels TV, Legit.ng, BellaNaija and others across news, politics, sports, business, tech and entertainment — and cluster their coverage of the same story into a single page, so you can see who's reporting what on a given topic without opening a dozen tabs.

We don't republish full articles. Every story page carries a short summary and a headline from each newsroom covering it, and every one of those headlines links straight back to the original publisher's own site.

How clustering works

When multiple outlets cover the same event, we group their coverage into one cluster rather than showing near-duplicate stories side by side. A story picked up by several newsrooms in a short window gets flagged as breaking; stories are also tagged by category and, where relevant, by Nigerian state, so coverage of a Kano state story or a Lagos flood is easy to find on its own.

The Paper Roundup

Each morning we publish a Paper Roundup: a short, original synthesis of the day's major stories across every desk, written by summarizing that morning's coverage. Every quote in a Roundup is checked against the real headline or summary it's attributed to before publishing — a quote that doesn't check out against the actual source is dropped rather than published. On a quiet news day with too few major stories to make a real morning briefing, we skip publishing one rather than pad it out.

Sourcing & corrections

We aim to characterize every story accurately based on what the newsrooms we track actually reported. If we've gotten something wrong — a mischaracterized headline, a story attributed to the wrong outlet, anything else — tell us at info@newsbreaknigeria.com and we'll fix it.
