Overview

NewsBreakNigeria ("we", "us") is a news aggregator: we cluster and summarize headlines from Nigerian newsrooms, and every headline links back to the original publisher. This page explains what information we collect from visitors to this site, and how it's used.

Information We Collect

Information you provide. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store the email address you submit, for the sole purpose of sending that newsletter. We don't require an account to read the site, save articles, or use any other feature.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting and analytics infrastructure records standard technical data for every request (IP address, browser/device user agent, pages requested, timestamps) for security, abuse prevention, and aggregate traffic measurement.

Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser storage in three distinct ways:

  • Site preferences — your light/dark theme choice, stored in your browser's local storage. Never sent to our servers.
  • Saved articles — if you use the "Save" button, the list of saved articles is stored only in your browser's local storage, per device. We never see or store this list ourselves.
  • Advertising — we show ads served by Google AdSense, which may set its own cookies to personalize ads and measure their performance, per Google's own policy. Where required (for example, visitors in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland), a consent banner from Google's certified consent management platform lets you control ad personalization before any such cookie is set.

Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of third-party services to run this site: Google AdSense (advertising, described above), and OpenWeatherMap (the header's weather strip, which requests city-level weather data on the server — this doesn't involve any of your personal data).

How We Use Information

We use the information above to operate and secure the site, send the newsletter to those who requested it, and understand aggregate traffic patterns. We do not sell personal information to third parties.

Your Choices

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time (a link is included in every email once sending is active). You can clear saved articles and site preferences at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will always reflect the most recent revision.
