The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) was established under the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act of 2010 to boost local participation and capacity in the oil and gas sector, which for decades relied heavily on expatriate labour and imported technical expertise for specialised engineering work. The agency regularly partners with international and indigenous oil firms operating in Nigeria to fund skills-development programmes aimed at building a domestic workforce capable of handling technical operations historically outsourced abroad.
Renaissance Africa Energy Company, one of the indigenous firms that emerged from the divestment of international oil majors' onshore assets in Nigeria, is the partner in this latest initiative. Both outlets agree the programme is a 12-month training scheme for 60 Nigerians in critical oil and gas technical skills, hosted at Nigeria Machine Tools Limited in Osogbo, Osun State. Details such as the total cost of the programme, selection criteria for trainees, and post-training employment or certification pathways have not yet been disclosed in the coverage.
