Plateau State, particularly its central and southern local government areas like Mangu, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos, has for years grappled with violent attacks blamed on armed gunmen, with communities caught between farmer-herder tensions, banditry and sporadic communal clashes. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, a paramilitary agency under the Ministry of Interior tasked with protecting critical infrastructure and supporting the police, has repeatedly had its personnel targeted in such attacks across the North-Central region, underscoring the risks faced by security operatives even in areas with a visible security presence.
Both Vanguard and Daily Trust report the same core details: an NSCDC officer was killed and a businessman abducted in Pushit community, Mangu LGA. Neither report, as summarized, specifies the exact date of the attack, the identities of the victims, the number or identity of the attackers, or whether security agencies have responded with a statement, manhunt, or rescue operation — details likely to emerge as the story develops.
