JAMB warns candidates against accepting admissions outside CAPS

The Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is JAMB's online portal through which all admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions — universities, polytechnics and colleges of education — are supposed to be processed and validated. It was introduced to curb the long-standing problem of fraudulent admissions, where institutions or individuals offer candidates placements outside official channels, often for a fee, only for such admissions to later be rejected or voided because they were never captured in JAMB's central records.
JAMB's latest warning reflects a recurring issue each admission cycle: candidates receiving offers directly from institutions or agents rather than through CAPS, which the board says exposes them to the risk of losing their admission entirely or facing unresolved discrepancies in their academic records. Both Vanguard and Punch report the board's advisory in similar terms, though neither account specifies which institutions, if any, have been flagged for issuing such offers, or what sanctions, if any, await culprits.
