Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has long served as one of President Bola Tinubu's most combative media defenders, frequently sparring with opposition figures on social media and at public events. The exchange comes amid simmering political rivalry ahead of future elections, with Atiku Abubakar—who has contested the presidency multiple times and recently been linked with the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—positioning himself as a leading opposition voice against the APC-led government.
Both Vanguard and Leadership report Keyamo's remarks were tied to a presidential rally in Kaduna, with the minister alleging that Atiku's camp orchestrated the tearing down of Tinubu campaign posters for propaganda videos, before branding him "a butterfly thinking itself a bird." The coverage is largely consistent in quoting this central jab, though neither outlet provides further detail on Atiku's response, the specific date of the alleged poster incident, or independent verification of Keyamo's claims about staged video content.
