Madonna University: ‘Give us second chance’ — Expelled nursing student pleads over TikTok challenge
A 500-level nursing student expelled by Madonna University, Rivers State, over a viral TikTok challenge has appealed to the institution to give her and other affected students a second chance, saying she is struggling…
Madonna University, a Catholic-owned private institution with campuses in Elele (Rivers State), Okija (Anambra) and Akpugo (Enugu), is known for strict disciplinary codes rooted in its religious character, covering dress, conduct and social media behaviour. Expulsions over viral videos or perceived breaches of decorum have surfaced before at the school, often sparking debate about proportionality between the offence and the punishment of losing years of academic work, especially for students in clinical programmes like nursing who are close to graduation.
In this case, a 500-level nursing student is among those expelled after a TikTok challenge filmed inside a university teaching space went viral, and she has publicly pleaded, in some reports visibly distressed, for the school to reconsider and grant affected students another chance. The coverage so far centers on her appeal; details such as the exact content of the challenge, how many students were affected, and whether the university has responded to the plea have not been reported.
