The Nigerian Air Force operates a fleet of training and combat aircraft that have, over the years, been involved in periodic crashes often linked to training exercises, mechanical failure, or operations against insurgents and bandits. Such incidents typically draw condolences from political figures and sometimes prompt temporary halts to public engagements as a mark of respect for personnel lost in service.
In this instance, the Imo State chapter of the PDP has paused its campaign activities and other party events for three days following a NAF aircraft crash, with coverage pointing to Ondo State as the location of the incident. Details on the exact circumstances of the crash, the number and identities of those affected, and the NAF's official account have not yet been fully reported, and it remains to be seen whether other parties or candidates in Imo's ongoing political season will take similar steps.
