The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is strengthening its engagement with China as part of efforts to expand investment and local manufacturing in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. The Board participated in the 2026 Chengdu International Petroleum and Chemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition, where it engaged Chinese original equipment manufacturers and other industry stakeholders.
A key objective is to connect Chinese companies with Nigerian oil and gas businesses, develop sustainable supply-chain partnerships and attract foreign direct investment into Nigeria’s Nigerian Oil and Gas Parks Scheme (NOGaPS). The NCDMB also wants Chinese manufacturers to consider establishing production or service operations in Nigeria, helping to increase local value creation and reduce dependence on imported equipment.
The initiative forms part of the NCDMB’s wider strategy to deepen Nigerian content through indigenous manufacturing, skills development and technology transfer. The Board’s oil and gas parks are intended to provide infrastructure for local companies and create jobs, while its international engagements seek to bring foreign investment and technical expertise into Nigeria’s domestic oil and gas value chain.
