The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), one of the parties positioning itself ahead of the 2027 general election, has been assembling a National/Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate its electoral strategy and mobilisation efforts. The council's formal unveiling, initially fixed for October 20, 2026, had been expected to signal the formal kickoff of the party's campaign machinery, with its presidential candidate Peter Obi at the centre of its political appeal nationwide.
Coverage across outlets agrees on the core facts: the NDC's National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, confirmed the shift to October 26, 2026. ThisDay adds a detail not carried elsewhere — that the postponement was linked to Obi's overseas engagement — while other reports simply note the new date without stating a reason. What remains unclear from the reporting is the full composition of the campaign council, who else beyond Obi is expected to be unveiled, and whether the rescheduling carries any broader significance for the party's campaign timeline heading into 2027.
