The suspect, identified as 25-year-old businessman Lovely Chukwulobelu, was reportedly bound for Portugal when NDLEA operatives intercepted him at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu. According to the agency, he had ingested the 72 wraps of cocaine, which he later excreted, and told operatives he turned to trafficking to recoup money spent on his recent wedding.
The arrest coincided with a separate NDLEA operation at the Lagos airport, where the agency intercepted an estimated N3 billion worth of opioids — part of what Premium Times describes as a series of major opioid seizures recorded at that airport this year, pointing to sustained trafficking pressure through Nigeria's major air routes.
