The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has said Nigeria’s true independence should mean freedom from poverty, insecurity, illiteracy, disease and division. In its Independence Day message, IPAC National Chairman Yusuf Mamman Dantalle said Nigerians deserve security, welfare and good governance as practical realities rather than promises.
IPAC urged governments at all levels to prioritise citizens’ welfare and deliver tangible dividends of democracy. With the 2027 general election approaching, it also called on Nigerians to participate actively in the electoral process and urged INEC to ensure elections are free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive.
