Armed robbery remains a persistent security concern in Ibadan and other parts of Oyo State, with police commands regularly reporting arrests tied to locally fabricated firearms rather than factory-made weapons, which are harder for criminal networks to source. Such arms are typically produced by local blacksmiths and sold cheaply, making them a common feature in robbery, cultism and kidnapping cases across South-West Nigeria.
The coverage from Tribune Online and Punch agrees on the core details: three suspects were apprehended near Sumal Roundabout/Junction in Ibadan, with a locally made pistol and a live cartridge recovered. Punch adds that a motorcycle was also seized and ties the arrests to a specific robbery incident in the area. Neither report yet includes the suspects' identities, the exact date of arrest, or details on when they will be arraigned in court.
