President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu attended the Nigerian premiere of “MKO,” a feature-length documentary about the life and political legacy of the late businessman and politician, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola. The event took place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Iganmu, Lagos, on Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day.
Directed by Ose Oyamendan, the documentary explores Abiola’s political career and his role in the struggle that followed the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election. It uses archival material and accounts linked to the June 12 struggle and had previously been screened internationally at the Sheffield DocFest in the UK before its Nigerian premiere.
