XEJet Launches Direct Abuja — Gusau Flight Services
Kasim Sumaina in Abuja XEJet Limited, a premium airline, has launched its inaugural flight service to Gusau. The new route establishes a direct air link between Abuja and Zamfara State.
Zamfara State has long lacked direct air connectivity with Abuja, forcing travellers, traders and government officials to rely on road journeys through routes that have in recent years been troubled by insecurity, or to connect through other airports, adding time and cost to trips between the state and the federal capital. The introduction of a direct flight route is therefore significant for easing movement of people and goods, boosting commerce, and potentially supporting security logistics in the North-west region.
Nigeria's domestic aviation sector has seen several newer carriers attempt to expand routes to underserved states as a way of growing passenger traffic beyond the dominant Lagos-Abuja-Port Harcourt corridor. XEJet Limited's entry into the Abuja-Gusau route adds to this trend, though the coverage so far does not detail flight frequency, ticket pricing, or the aircraft type being deployed on the new service.
