Lagos Deputy Governor and APC governorship candidate Obafemi Hamzat has urged Lagos residents to participate actively in the 2027 elections and support APC candidates. Speaking during a visit by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) to his campaign office, Hamzat expressed concern about low voter turnout, noting that although about 6.2 million people were registered to vote in the last election, only around 1.2 million participated.
Hamzat and other APC leaders highlighted what they described as achievements in infrastructure, education, economic development and governance, and called for stronger grassroots mobilisation. The campaign is also focusing on young voters, with APC campaign director-general Musiliu Obanikoro stressing the importance of reaching Lagos's large population of voters aged 18 to 35.
The meeting was part of the APC's broader preparations for the 2027 elections. COWLSO pledged its support for Hamzat and promised to help mobilise voters, particularly women and young people. The article also reports that campaign officials see women's community networks as an important channel for political engagement and voter mobilisation across Lagos.
