Imo West Shocker: Uzodinma Out, Okorocha In

A Federal High Court in Abuja has thrown Imo politics into turmoil, sacking Governor Hope Uzodinma as the APC's Imo West senatorial candidate and declaring former governor Rochas Okorocha the rightful winner of the party's May 18 primary. Justice Obiora Egwuatu ordered INEC to publish Okorocha's name and directed Uzodinma to stop parading himself as the candidate, with Premium Times noting the judge ruled that 'Mr Okorocha won the APC's Imo West senatorial primary election, not Mr Uzodimma.' The Imo APC, however, is digging in, with Vanguard quoting the party's insistence that 'the party's legal department shall study the outcome of a legal intervention in this matter and act accordingly,' even as Okorocha has already reacted publicly to the ruling.
